#GiveThanks Virtual 5k Race 2019


What is a virtual race?

A virtual race is a race that can be ran at any location. You can walk, use the treadmill, run outside or participate in another race. It can be run over several days or all at once.


#GiveThanks5k is a race of mindfulness. Based off of Eris Eady’s daily mantra: “It’s morning. We made it. #GiveThanks” We want people all over the world to dedicate 3.1 miles to reflect on the things we often forget to be thankful for. This race began as a birthday gift to herself, but she always intended for this to happen during the holiday season. We all know the foundations of Thanksgiving are rooted in a lot of things we’d rather ignore, but cannot forget. So let’s use this season as an opportunity to up our gratitude and to put that into action by incorporating some physical wellness into the fold.

Registration Details:

  • Registration Opens: Tuesday October 29, 2019

  • Registration Ends: Friday November 22, 2019

  • Race Day: Complete by Thursday December 5, 2019

  • Race Swag Ships: Week of December 8, 2019


How does it work?

  1. Purchase your virtual race registration! Ask your friends and family to join you as well! ​​

  2. Train! If this is your first 5k you can walk, jog, wog, run, skip, or twerk your way to 3.1 miles! You can download an app or find a training plan on Pinterest. Or you can join Balance360 Health & Wellness, LLC for a customized plan.

  3. Plan your route ahead of time to make sure it’s the full 3.1 miles. You can complete it alone or with a local running group. If 3.1 miles at one time is too much… you can complete it over several days. All that matters is that you start and you finish. Everything in between is just details.

  4. Course/Timing: There is no time requirements. You choose your goal, or don’t choose one at all. There are no additional prizes for going fast. This is a race of gratitude. We hope you use this time to reflect on everything you are grateful for. Your race, your pace.

  5. Download your Virtual Bib for Race Day! Pin it to your running gear to make it official.

  6. Race Day! Hit the pavement (or treadmill, or even the pool if you’re fancy). You can go solo or with your crew. Post pictures using the Hashtag #GiveThanks5k

  7. BOOM! It’s 3.1 miles. You ran it. #GiveThanks
